She was an elite and collegiate gymnast, earning the Olympic alternate spot on the 1996 "Magnificent Seven" gymnastics team and then a 3-time NCAA Champion and 14-time All-American at the University of Utah. She became a physician assistant and joined the Army, and then her health began to slowly deteriorate.

Worked as a physician assistant in several different areas of medicine to include: pulmonary, sports medicine, internal medicine in the US Army, psychiatry at the Veterans Administration, and family medicine. 

Served as a physician assistant in the U. S. Army and deployed to Tikrit, Iraq as the Battalion Physician Assistant for 10 months.

Developed a group called THRIVE (based on James Baraz' Awakening Joy), which implemented mindfulness, meditation, and increasing joy in one's life while working at the Veteran’s Administration hospital.
